My First blog Ever!-Mom

Halloween has always been a fun time in our family. I think of all the costumes I have sewn. From Sarah's first clown costume, her bear that many of you also wore, and so many projects. Remember when Matt loved horses. Almost as much as Grace loving princesses and Sam loving McQueen. He was the cutest little cowboy when he was two. Jake and his weapons. He was a ninja turtle one year, surprise surprise. The time we were in colorado and he was a pirate was fun but mostly he was the cutest vampire ever. I think he wore that costume more than once. Julie was such a girly girl and loved being a made up. I am so sorry that I made my girly girl wear the dinosaur costume one year. Marie was the cutest witch more than once but I also remember he being the yellow clown. Poor Marissa wore some kind of cat costume more times than I can count. But it got harder to get creative. Mark loved to be a superhero. But all the boys had their moment with the superheroes. I loved the year Mark, Spencer and Bryce all dressed up as a Asian Boy.

You know it isn't what you children dressed up as that was my greatest memory. It was the family time. Putting on makeup together and then dad and I taking turns going out to trick or treat and the other one staying home with the babies and giving out candy. Watching you kids running and filling your pillowcases or bags was priceless. Most of the time there was lots of laughing and happiness. It was fun to see your faces when dad finally brought you home and you were tired but content with your siblings. You kids got along so well. Halloween is happy time with fun traditions. It has changed this year. For the first time we didn't have any of you trick or treating but it was so fun to see Lucy as an adorable clown, Grace the beautiful Belle, Sam with the cute McQueen car that Sarah made, and our cuddle bunny Claire.

because i am old, i only remember a little and only a little at a time. but i can still see matt in a dinosaur outfit when we lived in sunset. he dragged the tail so much i had to put tape on his tail to save it.

all the girls at one time or another wore the yellow clown suit mom made out of a sleeper.

later on jake wore the frankenstein costume that looked he was riding on jake's back. and we still have the head that lights up down in the basement.

Sarah's Halloween Memories

I loved the dinosaur costume! I guess because I never had to wear it. Does anyone remember if I was anything but a princess or fairy or ballerina? I was the biggest scaredy cat at Halloween. I remember in Colorado going to a house wear there was a note that said the family was gone and to take a piece of candy from the bowl on a scarecrows lap. Then when we reached for the candy the hand moved. We all jumped. Then he moved again, and again until finally he stood up and handed us the candy bowl. By the time we moved to utah I was done trick or treating but I remember one year going to a party for mutual in someone's barn. Matt and I raided Granny's closest for a costume. We found blue and purple silk seventies jumpsuits with matching crocheted hats. They were awesome. I wonder if Granny still has those. I also remember dressing Matt and Rod Larsen up as cheerleaders. I can't believe how wimpy they were when I tried to put mascara on them! One of my other favorite costumes was Jake's Frankenstein costume. Of course, my favorite Halloween was in 2001. Dan can talk about that one.

Julie's Halloween Memories

First off, I just want to say that I think this blog is such a fun idea! Sarah you are awesome:). Well my memories of Halloween always included Dad's chili and bread sticks. The best part of coming home from trick-or-treating was sitting down and eating a hot bowl of chili. One of my favorite costumes was the when Marky was Billy Blazes for Halloween. He was probably only 3 years old and mom had penciled in dark thick eyes brows and a mustache on his cute little face:). My least favorite was that darn dinosaur costume. i was stuffed, front and back, with pillows in that costume and had a hard time getting in and out of the van all Halloween night. Good times.

Yamane Family Blog

Crazy that two people get married and raise seven children! Is that possible? It is and it makes for a lot of memories. I was listening to Dan's family talk about some of their favorite memories and thought we need to write this down. I thought it would be fun if we all could share stories with each other on a regular basis. Since we don't see each other on a regular basis but use our computers daily, why not start a blog? So here it is.

We are all going to be authors of this blog. Everyone can post and comment on other's posts. I was thinking that every week I would choose a topic to blog about. During that week we can all post a memory, story, or simply a thought about the topic. I will post the topic on Sundays. If anyone has a suggestion for topics leave a comment to this post with the suggestions. When you post for the week make sure you title the post with your name so we can see who it's from. I thought that it would be fun to eventually print off all the posts and have a family book of memories.

Since this week is Halloween I thought we could start off with a Halloween topic. So share a favorite Halloween memory, costume, etc. If you have any pictures put them on too. I think this could really be an awesome way to keep in touch with each other.
